The Black Business Coalition (“BBC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users, members, affiliates, contractors, directory participants, event participants, sponsors, advertisers, and website visitors to do the same.
This Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) Copyright Policy explains how copyright owners may submit notices of alleged copyright infringement and how the Black Business Coalition responds to such notices.
This Policy applies to all websites, directories, membership platforms, business listings, events, educational resources, social media platforms, marketing materials, and other services operated by the Black Business Coalition (collectively, the “Services”).
1. COPYRIGHT POLICY
The Black Business Coalition prohibits users from uploading, posting, distributing, displaying, transmitting, reproducing, or otherwise making available content that infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any content they submit, upload, publish, or distribute through BBC Services does not violate copyright laws or intellectual property rights.
2. COPYRIGHT OWNERSHIP
All content owned by the Black Business Coalition, including but not limited to:
- Logos
- Trademarks
- Service marks
- Website content
- Educational materials
- Articles
- Graphics
- Videos
- Audio recordings
- Marketing materials
- Training materials
- Event materials
- Directory content created by BBC
- Software
- Website design elements
is protected by United States copyright laws, trademark laws, and other intellectual property laws.
Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.
3. REPORTING COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
If you believe that content available through BBC Services infringes your copyright, you may submit a written DMCA Notice containing the following information:
Required Information
Your notice must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location sufficient for us to locate the content.
- Your contact information, including:
- Full legal name
- Mailing address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by:
- The copyright owner,
- The owner’s agent, or
- Applicable law.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that:
- The information in the notice is accurate, and
- You are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
Incomplete notices may not be processed.

The BBC reserves the right to update its designated copyright contact information at any time.
5. RESPONSE TO VALID DMCA NOTICES
Upon receipt of a valid DMCA Notice, the BBC may:
- Remove the allegedly infringing content.
- Disable access to the content.
- Notify the user who submitted the content.
- Request additional information.
- Investigate the claim.
- Take any action required by applicable law.
The BBC reserves the right to determine appropriate action in its sole discretion.
6. COUNTER-NOTIFICATION PROCEDURE
If you believe content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a written Counter-Notification.
A Counter-Notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed or disabled and its previous location.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed due to mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of:
- The federal court located in Virginia, or
- If outside the United States, any judicial district where the BBC may be found.
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original DMCA Notice or that person’s representative.
Upon receipt of a valid Counter-Notification, the BBC may restore the material unless the original claimant files a court action seeking to prevent restoration.
7. REPEAT INFRINGER POLICY
The Black Business Coalition reserves the right to terminate, suspend, restrict, or remove access for users who repeatedly violate copyright laws or intellectual property rights.
The BBC may determine repeat infringement status in its sole discretion.
Actions may include:
- Account suspension
- Account termination
- Listing removal
- Membership termination
- Contractor termination
- Referral program termination
- Event participation restrictions
8. FALSE CLAIMS
Submitting knowingly false copyright claims or false counter-notifications may result in legal liability.
Users are encouraged to consult legal counsel before submitting a DMCA Notice or Counter-Notification.
The BBC is not responsible for the accuracy of claims submitted by third parties.
9. USER-GENERATED CONTENT
The Black Business Coalition may allow users to submit:
- Business listings
- Reviews
- Testimonials
- Photos
- Videos
- Marketing materials
- Educational content
- Event content
- Social media content
- Directory information
Users represent and warrant that they possess all rights necessary to submit such content.
Users agree to indemnify the BBC for claims arising from content they submit.
10. NO LEGAL DETERMINATION
The BBC is not a court of law and does not make legal determinations regarding ownership disputes.
The BBC’s actions in response to a copyright complaint do not constitute:
- A legal finding
- An admission of liability
- A determination of infringement
All copyright disputes remain the responsibility of the parties involved.
11. TRADEMARK COMPLAINTS
Trademark concerns may also be submitted to the BBC using the contact information provided above.
Trademark complaints should include sufficient information to identify:
- The trademark
- The alleged misuse
- The location of the content
The BBC reserves the right to investigate trademark-related complaints.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Black Business Coalition shall not be liable for:
- Content removal
- Content restoration
- Account suspension
- Membership termination
- Listing removal
- User disputes
- Intellectual property disputes
The BBC reserves the right to take action it deems appropriate to comply with applicable law.
13. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Black Business Coalition and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, affiliates, sponsors, and partners from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses arising from:
- Content you submit
- Copyright claims involving your content
- Intellectual property disputes
- Violations of this Policy
14. MODIFICATIONS TO THIS POLICY
The BBC reserves the right to modify this DMCA Copyright Policy at any time.
Updated versions become effective upon posting to the website.
Continued use of BBC Services constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
15. GOVERNING LAW
This Policy shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard to conflict of law principles.

✓ The BBC may terminate repeat infringers.
✓ False copyright claims may result in legal liability.
